Course Description & Learning Objectives
Recent advancements in salivary testing allow us to now analyze all 700+ bacterial species in the mouth, both good and bad, with a single saliva sample — providing root-cause insights into a patient’s oral and systemic health.
This course will provide a comprehensive introduction to salivary testing. It includes didactic training on the history of salivary testing, different testing options, the benefits for patients and providers, the importance of saliva testing for oral-systemic healthcare, and how you can implement testing in your practice to elevate patient care.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
- Gain an understanding of the history of salivary testing
- Provide an elemental understanding of the laboratory process when analyzing saliva samples
- Discuss the oral systemic links between microbial content of the saliva and and associated health conditions
- Describe the WHO, HOW, and WHEN to test your patients and what to do with the results for treatment planning
